Without really knowing either of these two incidents, but being part of 'the system', if I had to venture a few proper theories;
- Cover-ups to protect the public - Forces we aren't even aware, sort of like Men in Black, who take care to erase everything involving personas and have been for years. Something that did bother me about when I met all of you is how I knew they'd pinned down the Phantom Thieves as being able to change hearts, but no real information on how it was done, or what it involved. Even that was kept a secret to us.
- You know how crazy society would be if they found out aliens existed? Now imagine if they found out about Persona or the research that the people you mentioned or Akira Konoe's experiments during my time making it possible to being able to brainwash masses like puppets...all of that will eventually lead to: - Blackmail - Corruption - Attempts to silence other parties to be able to take that technology for themselves
Take your pick. Honestly at this rate it might be all of these combined.
From what we found out, it was all Shido's doing. He'd found out about the Metaverse years ago and had worked to keep it covered up so he could use it for himself. That's how he got to power.
I don't know if we ever told you about all of that, back home. But the problem is that it seems like it's just a cycle, and people keep getting hurt when it resurfaces.
He was real piece of shit wasn't he? It just takes a few greedy men...or men like Konoe who are deluded enough to think they are doing the right thing.
[He's still very bitter of the past two years being under the heel of evil people simply because one of them drove drunk and didn't like him getting justice for his wife.]
It just goes back to how people like him end up finding about the Metaverse, and the 'gods' it seems to awaken when the hornet's nest is poked, figuratively speaking. Then again, with Seta's story I don't see a set pattern of occurrence either, so who knows.
[It is hard as a detective to just not be able to see it. He's going to think the men in black comment might actually be real at this point.]
