NAME: Eikichi Mishina

CANON: Persona 2: Innocent Sin
NAME: Eikichi Mishina
AGE: 16
CANON: Persona 2: Innocent Sin
CANON HISTORY: Behold, the Wiki | Here's the game's story as told from a Offical Player Guide in Japan (translated)
CANON PERSONALITY:
In life, Eikichi "Michel" Mishina wants to take the center stage.
At first glance he seems self-centered, narcissistic and concentrated on wanting to leave his mark on the world. Eikichi, or as he likes to call himself by his band stage name, Michel (remember the name well, babe), is someone that wants to be heard. He is not just someone to pass by on the street, oh no, he is meant to be seen, and he will do this with utter flamboyancy worthy of a true diva. Most of his speeches aimed to pacify demons are about how great he is, and how it's sin that he's too pretty to live. While most are content to walk amongst others and be avoided, Eikichi WANTS the eyes turned towards him. He doesn't wear just the normal school outfit, but colors his hair a bright blue to attract attention, and presents himself with visual kei influence, including heavy black makeup and painted nails, and white foundation over his face. You can't help but stop and stare and he'll be happy to turn around so you can get the best of his profile.
He's a visionary and passionate in all he does, both good and bad. True to his zodiac, the Scorpio, he can be thick headed and driven to accomplish his goals, no matter how hard or impossible the challenge might be. There are two very strong examples of this, first his dream of starting his own band, Gas Chamber, with himself as the singer. You know, despite the fact he is a terrible singer, but hey he's made an armband which he wears proudly. But no worries, he'll figure it all out and they'll become world-famous soon enough! No one can tell him otherwise. He also completely changed his appearance, going from chubby, shy stuttering guy to the teenager he is today because he fell in love with a girl when he was young who said she hated who he was back then. That physical and mental transformation takes a special kind of dedication that's not present in many people. Especially when you love food so much as a kid.
He's imposing. Standing at 6'1" which is tall for a typical sixteen year old Japanese teenager (the tallest Persona user so far in the series), and is still growing. He's done his share of hand fighting, although Lisa, another teammate, easily beats him in that department all the times they butt heads. Many will find themselves intimidated by him - it is even a demon contract option where he tries to take control by calling them 'biatches' and if they 'think demons are the shit' they have another thing coming. The strength of the Scorpio-born is in their determination, passion and motivation and Eikichi is, for the most part, all of this. He is the head Boss; usually, his word goes when he gives it.
And yet, don't let appearances deceive you into thinking he's just that! Like the rest of his teammates, Eikichi's center is surprisingly much more delicate than he lets on, and in all those layers of egotism beats the timid heart of a young, caring child. Sure, he might be the (ex)Boss of his school, but he helped the students pursue their dreams and took care of them like his own brothers. He didn't tolerate bullying on anyone (granted he bullied the bullies, which is just as worst, but he realizes this in the game). He has three friends that are his "bros" that he is very close to and they have a code of conduct at how things should be run. Once he remembers Lisa, Jun, Tatsuya and Maya, his caring for his old friends is reborn anew.
Due to his history, there will always be a part of him still remains that shy, fat uncertain kid that Michel desperately tried to bury down to become the man that his crush, Miyabi, would like. He hides it behind the self confidence, but the walls could fall down, should he be crushed enough to have that happen. When it does, its not uncommon for Eikichi to start stuttering.
For all the caring deep down, he did also lose himself along the way into teeenagehood. A show-off and inflated head, it is hard to take him seriously at first. However, Eikichi has thankfully gotten much better at genuinely changing for the better, a merging personality parts of both his 'old' self and the newer, thinner him. Of course, old habits die hard no matter what, and he can still be a pain to others...and an idiot. He seems to run into bad luck many times, or just purposefully cause it.
Say what you will about him, but Eikichi also has excellent micromanaging skills - he was able to keep an entire school's worth of male delinquents in check with a combination of his Persona, his charisma and his ability to lead crowds.
His greatest fear is his father and he hides from him his 'bad boy' tenancies - his old man doesn't even know that his son goes to school putting on makeup, dyes his hair blue and makes modification to his outfit every day. If you see Eikichi at his father's restaurant, you will find someone passive, quiet and dressed traditionally - a complete turnaround from his school image. Thankfully, events allowed him to overcome that obstacle, face a golden clone of his father and Eikichi 2.0 (his words in the game) emerged.
In Persona, each character has a main persona assigned to them. Eikichi's Arcana is Death, a symbol of rebirth and change, and that is what he did from his childhood to who he is now. He does not look what you'd expect someone to have the Death Arcana to look like. Once you are marked as a friend, he will stick by you. Eikichi has a big heart and he wants everyone to succeed. When the situation seems dire, he, along with Maya, tend to be the ones who jump-start and motivate the group. Just don't push him around too much. He will grumble at times and act diva-ish, sure, but does do what others ask of him. He tends to get the short end of the luck stick with his friends. His love for Miyabi hasn't changed one bit either. He really does love her unconditionally, and it is the root of why he changed in the first place.
And yet nothing will be able to stop him from saying he is god's gift to the world. Perhaps his positivity, even if it is sometimes comically misplaced, is his greatest asset after all. He is the comedic, whipping boy character, and therefore his luck and his own stupidity tends to put him at harm's way, much to the chagrin of others.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Wildcard Persona Summon Ability:
Unlike the newer games, all characters in Persona 2 are 'Wild Cards' meaning they can equip the different arcanas. HOWEVER unlike the Persona 3 and 4's protagonists, only certain Arcanas work better than the others. In Eikichi's case, Death (his main), Strength, Hanged Man, Cup and Sword. It does not mean he cannot equip the others, but that they will be more powerful if they are in his stronger arcanas. If you are familiar with Jojo, Personas in Persona 2 function a lot more like stands, appearing out of a user by sheer force of will, and can materialize in the normal world.
Main Persona: Each character has a certain Persona that is also their 'main', the one that is both their Arcana and the closest to how they are. In Eikichi's case, it is Hades. Hades is pretty much as effeminate as Eikichi, wearing a death metal wedding dress. When he is equipped with him, Hades bestows upon Eikichi immunity to water, light and dark attacks, but he is weak to fire.
Fighting Ability: Eikichi is the strongest character in the game. You'd think he'd punch people in the face (which he has done in the game), but no, Eikichi fights with a weapon that is extremely non-traditional.
It's a guitar case.
Does he whack people with them? Nah. The guitar case is just a ruse, it's really a giant machine gun. It's the perfect incognito weapon that never seems to run out of bullets (probably magic. Definitely magic.)
Contacts
Persona 2 has 'Contact' system where the characters try to speak with the demons instead of fighting and forge contracts with them. This is based on a system where they can try four options and hope that the demons will respond in a positive way. In Eikichi's case it is:
- Self-Promotion (Bragging about how great he is, of course)
- Take Control (Call demons biatches and bring out his Boss aspect of personality by threatening them)
- Discuss Life (Cheer demons up and tell them that they aren't too bad! Life is great! Keep that smile babe!)
- Sing (...Sing. well attempt to sing anyway).
This could be used for comedic purposes once he remembers this ability, as is with most of his life in general, so I figured I would list it here.
Persona User Endurance
All Persona users get increased endurance and agility. Attacks that would normally kill or badly harm someone might just be incredibly painful for them (so basically, the difference between bleeding to death from a wind attack, vs feeling like someone punched you really hard in your gut). For this to even work, he'd need to regain a Persona.

AU HISTORY:
The eldest son of a three sibling family (note: no other siblings have been applied for, I am just posting this to leave it in the open), Michel's life started out in Canada with his family. His father, a known voice actor, director and translator at the time, married his actress/artist wife. Both stars in their own rights, they were torpedoed to fame by being some of the earlier users of the online video services and commercialization, along with adopting early technology before many others could catch up. They invested - smartly.
While they would have been able to retire early, both were extremely hard workers, and socialites. Their fame not only gave them a good lead, but also made them highly popular as they began to diversify and work on various projects on the World Wide Web - Michel's father starting a cooking channel, his mother a painting one, and doing acting and mini movies together and with their family. Pranking became their bread and butter very quickly, and with their children being natural actors, it made it easy to set up 'pranks' with the children participating.
In a way, Michel always had the spotlight trust upon him. Still, with this in mind, each child was brought into a family that encouraged their children to be creative, provided them with the tools and money (really the money) needed to strike on their own. Michel was popular for his artwork at first, meeting a lot of his current friends due to his fandoms, but always wanting to strike out on his own instead of being in the shadow of the Mishina name. Sadly, his grades are nothing to dream of, being overly invested in his fame.
When all family members were well over childhood, and the family finally obtaining a green card to work in the US, the decision to change countries was made with an acceptance from the entire family. Two places were initially picked - Hollywood or Recolle...and it was the amount of friends the children knew from the city and the tech-savvy of the place which finally charmed the parents to move two years ago.
Michel's video empire was a penitence compared to what his family as a whole brought in - but he was determined to make his own channel and be self-sufficient before he hit his 20s. Thus began a series of experimental videos - trying everything (family friendly) under the sun attempting to find what people wanted. He struck gold doing let's plays - mostly because of the reactions and the sound of his voice. It did help he brought in many celebrities of their own right over time - sometimes even A-list actors due to his parent's connections.
And here we are the current moment in time. As far as Michel is aware, he's got a pretty good life. His family is rich, his parents are the almost sickening kind of love-struck parents who do work their kids hard, true, but trying to show them how important it is and he's got a channel that is slowly but surely rising in popularity. Sure he has to play the popular and troll game online, and he's the butt of a lot of jokes, but that's just how celebrity life is. He might not have many friends offline, but online he's got plenty! And he aims for the stars, hoooou! Maybe in a few years he'll be the star of a movie or he'll have enough proper training for his indie band to hit it big...
...or maybe he could do something about his grades. That could be a start.
AU PERSONALITY:
Personality wise, he's mostly the same with a few major differences. Because his parents were supportive and progressive, he didn't feel as much pressure as the original Eikichi did when it came to taking over his father's empire - it also does help that this one doesn't involve sushi. As a result, Michel's self-loathing from his original self is almost non-existent. However it is replaced by a paranoia and loneliness - because of his fame, he isn't always sure if his friends are really friends, and it takes a while for him to warm up to new people and not assume they want something from him.
However he is a lot more critical of what he does - in many ways as Eikichi, his old defiance is what gave him the ability to push onward with a lot more stupidity - as Michel, he tends to over-guess himself. He's living on a fine, public line. He knows if he does something wrong, the opinion of him can easily be swayed - and he is determined to continue to be popular.
Otherwise, many of the positive traits in Eikichi can be found in Michel - he's very caring of his friends once he's certain they are here for him and not everything AROUND him, to the point of wanting to defend them online, he's thickheaded in the sense that he is very driven to succeed - something not imposed by his parents, but rather by choice.
He is also sometimes amazingly ignorant of common things - in his old life he went to a delinquent school and was taught skills by his father - here his father might also be a chef (at times), but he's a celebrity - he can cook, but he vastly prefers to order or have someone else make it for him. Things that he never had to worry about - clothing, housing, money - are still very hard for him to grasp. He's not very street-savvy either. There's an ignorance about him at times that might grate someone's nerve. He means well but...he's just not getting it.
Hilariously his mannerisms are nearly the same - he likes to talk in third person when it suits him, he yells out HOOOOU and LETS GO BABY and FRIENDS OF ROCK AND ROLL as catchphrases, but they carry a bit more weight than before - Michel has fans to entertain, whereas Eikichi simply dreamed of having more than one.
This does mean, overall, that Michel is very stressed - stressed about what he's doing, stressed about his business, stress about becoming and staying popular. It weighs down on him and might cause issues further down the line.
